The Wedding Barn is an open sided barn with an adjoining stone barn within a working farm, providing an idyllic rural setting for weddings and parties. We can accommodate up to 100 people seated, or up to 135 if casual seating is planned.
The farmyard is enclosed on three sides by stone barns, which adds to the rustic theme. A field behind the barns, with a backdrop of the downs and Carisbrooke Castle, can be brought alive for the ceremony, activities, music and camping.
The surrounding countryside is cleverly brought into the venue by dressing the barn with traditional wedding plants, wild flowers and greenery. Your colour scheme can be matched as far as possible with in-season wildflowers, from frothy white cow parsley, elder flowers, meadowsweet, campion, buttercups, speedwell and alkanet. You will be advised of in-season flowers. Bought flowers can be incorporated into the décor and table settings.
Set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, our gardens, fields and pathways provide a perfect backdrop to capture your celebrations. The possibilities to make your day unique are endless, let your imagination run riot.
Every couples' journey is unique, personal and very special; it's a time to celebrate this wonderful day just the way you want it.
When hiring Plaish Farm, you will have the barn from the Wednesday before your wedding, through to the following Tuesday. This allows you plenty of time to create your own decor and set-up, and to stamp your own personality and creativity throughout whole event.
It is becoming ever more popular to create a bespoke service that reflects your personal beliefs and lifestyle with the freedom of choice; choice of location, choice of time and choice of words.
Although Plaish Farm is not licensed for the ceremony to be performed by a Registrar, you have the option to use a Wedding Celebrant.
Once the official legal requirements have been completed at the Registry Office, you and your Wedding Celebrant can create a unique and personal ceremony as traditional or adventurous as you wish, here at Plaish Farm.
To make the barn magically twinkle and sparkle, fairy lights adorn the ceiling and around the two barns, four chandeliers hang in the main barn and three over the bar lights, creating a cosy atmosphere in the stone barn.
Uplighters throw the stone work into relief and create texture and depth to the wooden eaves above the bar and gallery.
Globe lights cast a warm glow all around the farmyard. The parking field is lit.
An electrician is on site for set up and during the day to ensure all electrical equipment is working and compliant with regulations. Extra power requirements for the field can be priced accordingly.
Voile curtains around the sides of the barn with Hessian and lace bunting.
Voile ceiling swags.
Fresh greenery, dried hop bines and dried flowers decorate the walls, pillars and beams.
Tubs of flowers, greenery in milk churns and other rustic items soften the farmyard and smoking area.
We will dress and set the hired tables and chairs or any other dressings or decorations you provide.
